translating vision into reality while enhancing the performance and trust in Sydney Met.
The CEO and President leads the Executive Management team. The CEO provides leadership to the College to achieve its strategic objectives and meet its legal, ethical, and social responsibilities. The CEO encompasses oversight, direction, and accountability at the highest levels at Sydney Met. All the committees under Executive Management provide guidance and recommendations to the CEO as a delegated authority of the Sydney Met’s Governance Council (GC) and/ or Academic Board for decision-making, review and approval.
The Executive Management of Sydney Met engages closely with, and is accountable to, corporate and academic governance, but its work is separate from them. The Executive Management (EM) is led by the CEO and President. As illustrated in Figure , Sydney Met is organised around the three main divisions viz: a) the Academic Division, led by the Executive Dean (ED); b) the Operations and Administrative Division, led by the General Manager (GM); and c) the Quality Assurance Division, led by the Chief Quality Officer (CQO). These Divisions include Departments, Offices and Units as needed, with the appropriate level of staffing and resourcing. The CEO, ED, GM, CQO, Registrar,. General Counsel and Secretariat Co-ordinator comprise the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The SLT is the main leadership group that meets weekly to facilitate discussions, deliberation and decisions on strategies, risks, compliance, operations and continuous improvement. The CEO is the Chair of the SLT meetings. The CEO may invite suitable person(s) to attend the SLT meetings as and when needed. The SLT is advised by the Management Advisory Panel (MAP) and receives advice from external stakeholders.
The executive management has a range of management committees that meet daily/ weekly. The Strategy Implementation Monitoring Committee (SIMC) meets monthly to monitor the implementation of the strategic objectives and progress made to the KPIs.
Other management committees, such as seen in the figure, meet regularly, which are organised by their division heads or managers to monitor progress, manage risks and maximise opportunities. Reports from these committee meetings are fed into the SLT and SMIC meetings. Ultimately, the management updates and reports are fed into the Academic Board (for academic affairs) and the Governing Council (for corporate affairs).
Sydney Met's campus is located on the unceded territory of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, who are the traditional owners of the land where the campus is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present, and emerging. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia and Indigenous peoples globally who are presently studying, working, or contributing to Sydney Met.
